What will I do for 28 Days?

This is not a 28-day-bust-your-butt-kind-of-challenge, rather 28 days of clarifying your needs and committing to your practice and health. We tend to overextend and lose ourselves this time of year, so this program is an opportunity to carve out time for yourself to engage deeply with your practice. Stay centered with the support of Wanna and our group. Weekly meetings support consistency in your personal practice, so you can feel calm, clear and clean.

How do I do it?

Each week we meet for practice and focus on one layer (kosha). Our weekly group practice will consist of physical yoga practice (asana), breath work (pranayama), meditation., contemplation and mindfulness practices. We’ll encourage you to spend some time each day with practices that support your individual journey. You will receive weekly teachings and contemplations to support you in your own inner housekeeping and daily practice. We’ll also offer an optional 4–14 day detoxifying cleanse and an additional 3 hour restorative healing practice .

What are Koshas?

The koshas (”layers” or “sheaths”) offer us a map to navigate the landscape of the self. First, we orient ourselves to the outermost layer of the physical body and move inwards, through each layer, accessing the deeper sheaths of subtle body towards the core of our being. Each week we introduce another layer into our study, awakening our yoga practice and purifying ourselves from the outside in: body, mind and soul.

What's the Cleanse ?

We incorporate an optional 4–14 Day at-home Ayurvedic detox and digestive rejuvenation program and support each other through as a group.

What's the Heal & Restore Session?

The practice is on Saturday Feb 23 from 3PM–6PM. Enjoy a restorative yoga practice combined with gentle energetic bodywork approaches (optional), on and off body, including a unique combination of Reiki, CranioSacral Therapy, and Heart Directed Therapy. This special practice is a tonic for the nervous system, a vacation for your muscles, a clearing for the mind, and a healing space for the heart.  This practice will help to support an integrate all the work you’ve been doing over the 5 weeks. For those doing the cleanse, this is an integral way to support yourself after the sometimes intense experience of detoxification.

A Typical Week

Each week has a focus, and that focus will entail some self study, contemplation, and writing. This is not meant to stress you out, but support you in carving out much needed time for self-care in your own schedule and life.

We’ll meet as a group every Monday evening for 5 weeks, 5:15–6:30pm on February 4, 11, 18, 25 & March 4. For everyday of the rest of the week, you can:

  • Choose to self-practice (we supply you with emails, audio and video to support your self practice)

  • You can take group yoga classes at Akasha Yoga (a discounted unlimited pass is offered for the duration of the program).

  • Do a mix of self practice or group practice based on your schedule

  • 2 weekly optional group meditation practices are offered on Tuesdays 8am / Saturdays 6:30pm. Or, you may choose to meditate at home with one of our guided audio meditations.

The Venue

Akasha Yoga is housed in Jackson Hole's first schoolhouse, just 3 blocks from the vibrant Jackson Town Square, in the shadow of Snow King Resort. The large windows and mountain views offer you a space that invokes clarity and connection to nature. The practice space is minimal and inviting, walking distance from Healthy Being and Persephone Bakery. This is a studio based venue, meaning we do not provide accommodation. However, there are many options nearby, and we can assist in placing you in housing that fits your budget. Just ask us we’ll get you set up.

The Experience

Nestled between two of Americas greatest treasures: Yellowstone National Park and Grand Teton National Park, the beautiful mountain town of Jackson Hole lured us in and has never let us go. Epic vistas, the towering Tetons, amazing wildlife, world class skiing and snowboarding, and a culture of health and pushing the limits of the human ability – this sets the stage for your education and transformation through yoga.

The Lifestyle

Out mountain town is home to some of the most epic adventurers. Our deep and personal connection to nature has created a community that lives and breathes for getting out there, to hike, ski, ride, climb. While our high elevation lifestyle often pushes the limits of our physical body, we look towards yoga, mindfulness, meditation, ayurveda, and various health and wellness practices to nourish and sustain our body and mind.

The Instructor

Wanna Johansson

I have 20 years of yoga practice and am ERYT-500 Instructor. I started practicing yoga in 1998 as a relief from a back injury, pain and trauma. In 2008 opened a yoga studio in Portland, Oregon, and was certified in the Anusara method. Since 2014, I’ve been assisting and training with Tara Judelle in Embodied Flow™, a yoga methodology that integrates the biomechanics and alignment from my Anusara background with the philosophy of Tantra, embodiment practices inspired by Bonnie Bainbridge Cohen, Embodied Anatomy and Somatic psychology. My yoga background is diverse, I’ve studied Anusara, Tantra, Vipassana, Vinyasa, Iyengar, Somatic Movement and Nigerian dance.
