Is this for me?

  • You are curious about yoga and want to go deeper

  • You enjoy practicing yoga but are not so sure about yoga culture or yoga people

  • You’re ready to make a change in your body and/or your life

  • You’re in a transition of home, relationship or career

  • You’re traveling by yourself, with friends, or as a couple

  • You need a little help sometimes

  • You don’t mind being barefoot most of the time

  •  You ask the hard questions, show up and do the work

A Typical Day

Coffee, tea and light snacks like fruits or coconut yogurt are available when you wake. The group will start each day in meditation, contemplation, pranayama (breath work) and mantra. We’ll have a small break in between so you can sip on a smoothie eat a sweet mango before our energizing asana practice. You’ll get sweaty and likely jump in the pool to cool off before brunch. We reconvene for lecture, workshop, or discussion, followed by lunch. Typically the afternoon 1–4pm is free for you to assimilate, rest or explore the island. The afternoon session is typically a grounding practice, workshop, lecture or discussion, followed by dinner. Our daily schedule may vary based on the needs of the group.

The Island

Siargao is a tropical, teardrop shaped island just a 2.5 hour flight southeast of Manila. We’re best known for our world class surf breaks and the famous Cloud 9. Take a SUP to Sugba Lagoon or in the mangroves, go island hopping on a bangka (outrigger), ride a motorbike through the coconut forest to beaches up north, or just chill on the beach. General Luna is a vibrant town with diverse cuisines and a great music scene. Our culture is one of respect for nature and a life of surf and joy. Filipinos are warm and our community helps each other thrive. Many visitors never leave.

The Venue & Food

Nestled within the jungles our a wave-fringed island, the Lotus Shores Yoga, Surf & Farm Retreat is a place for yogis, seekers, surfers, and conscious adventurers traveling to Siargao to rest, manifest, connect, get barreled and (or) enlightened. It was founded on the goal of Yoga, the realization of the unity of Being, often experienced in the act of wave-riding. Life at the retreat is a celebration, exploration and preservation of the sacred wisdom that yoga and surfing have to teach us about ourselves and the world around us. The commune is home to the island’s only yoga center, and Kali Ma Cafe, a plant-based kitchen and restaurant. Our meals locally sourced and served family style.

I recently finished yoga teacher training with Wanna. She is an excellent teacher and knows how to make learning fun, memorable, and applicable. In addition, her yoga classes are superb. She is able to tap into exactly what the student needs, allowing and helping the student safely explore their physical and spiritual edges.

6 Pillars of our Program

The Curriculum

All yoga, all the time.

You love a 90 minute class, you’ve done a  workshop, even a weekend or weeklong yoga retreat. Remember how great you felt? Imagine a month of that - I know. Sounds both amazing and scary. But don’t worry, we’ve got you. Our classroom vibe is compassionate, supportive and kind. This field of study expands your knowledge, deepens your understanding of yoga, and shifts your personal practice to the next level. You’ll have the time, space and support to explore and question the inner workings of your own individual body and mind.

Share the LOVE.

Sometimes a dance party of one is great. But where’s the joy if you can’t share it? As a practitioner of yoga, you’ll invariably be asked at one point or another to show someone a how to do a headstand. You’ll try to explain that yoga is that but so much more. How? The skill of facilitating yoga goes beyond teaching a class in a studio. It’s about learning to observe the situation, connect what’s in your thoughts and feelings to your voice, and express yourself in a way that is of service and support to the greater good. This material is taught simultaneously with Topics in the Inner Sphere.

Wanna Johansson
LEAD FACILITATOR

I have 20 years of yoga practice and am ERYT-500 Instructor. I started practicing yoga in 1998 as a relief from a back injury, pain and trauma. In 2008 opened a yoga studio in Portland, Oregon, and was certified in the Anusara method. Since 2014, I’ve been assisting and training with Tara Judelle in Embodied Flow™, a yoga methodology that integrates the biomechanics and alignment from my Anusara background with the philosophy of Tantra, embodiment practices inspired by Bonnie Bainbridge Cohen, Embodied Anatomy and Somatic psychology. My yoga background is diverse, I’ve studied Anusara, Tantra, Vipassana, Vinyasa, Iyengar, Somatic Movement and Nigerian dance.

I’ve been leading yoga and outdoor retreats for a decade to connect the inner practices of yoga with the teachings of the nature. I want to welcome all people to yoga as a source of nourishment, growth and fun. I have all gratitude to many teachers: Tara JudelleEmil WendelTony GuilianoKenny GrahamTodd TesenNaime Jezzeny and Sue Elkind. Off the mat I’m on a skinning on splitboard, sliding on snowboard, surfing, diving, drawing in ink, or cooking you a meal.

Todd Tesen
Guest Lecturer

Todd’s quest in meditation and asana, lead him to the practices of Hatha Yoga, Sivananda Yoga to Ashtanga Vinyasa Yoga. In 2001, Todd stumbled upon the fledgling school of Anusara Yoga. He recognized the clear sophistication and efficacy of its practice and methodology and immediately commenced studying the school’s system and instruction. His evolving practice led him to his teacher and friend, world renowned tantric scholar, Dr. Douglas Brooks with whom he continues regular study today.

Combining  Anusara Yoga’s asana technology and the revolutionary philosophic teachings of Brooks’ Rajanaka Yoga, Todd discovered the potency of scientific sophistication paired with artistic expression. Todd is a Licensed E-RYT500 Certified Yoga Instructor, who continues to practice daily and teach throughout the U.S, Mexico and South America, France, Portugal, the U.K., Ireland, Germany, Italy, Sweden, Greece, Turkey and Bali.

Known for his sense of humor, steadiness and the easy manner of his teaching style, Todd is also respected as the teacher who will challenge the student to linger in the depths and edges of each posture while guiding them to cultivated subtle refinements.

Tobias Johansson
Assistant Facilitator

My friends call me Toby. I’m an RYT-200 instructor, trained with Tara Judelle in Bali and Greece. I’ve been an outdoor enthusiast, educator and guide for most of my life. I was born and raised in Sweden, and started teaching scuba diving at 15. I have been guiding and training guides in scuba diving, rafting, kayaking and backcountry skiing for 20 years. Before moving to the US in 2003, I was a ranger and platoon leader for the Swedish military and graduated with a Masters in Engineering.

My body had been in pain for years from my various outdoor activities or sitting at a desk, and I found great healing through yoga. I want to share both the healing and fun aspects of yoga with others. Coming from a background of extreme sports, yoga helped me learn the benefits of moving the body efficiently and intelligently, rather than pushing my body so hard that I created pain and obstruction, a disconnect. Yoga can be easeful and enjoyable.

Off the mat I’m sliding up a hill on skins, down a hill on a snowboard, long distance swimming between islands, guiding on rivers, boating in whitewater, diving in the ocean, surfing, or in my wood shop building things.

The Embodied Flow™ Method

Tara Judelle and Scott Lyons are the founders of the methodology and school Embodied Flow .

Tara Judelle and Scott Lyons are the founders of the methodology and school Embodied Flow.

The Embodied Flow 200-hour Foundational Yoga Teacher Training provides a comprehensive introduction to the philosophy and methodology of yoga from an Embodied Flow perspective. Topics include asana, embodied anatomy, pranayama, meditation and the foundations of non-dual tantric philosophy. We focus on a process of self-inquiry, self-discovery and transformation, so students may experience their own unique journey in the living art of yoga. This approach prepares graduates to lead others on the path with skill and authenticity.

This first 200 hour level training is the initial step on the path of Embodied Flow. While it is not a requirement to want to become a teacher, all we ask is that you bring your curiosity into this intense immersion and the ever-widening path of yoga.

This 200 hour immersion delves into the landscape of yoga energetically, physically and philosophically. Participants study the foundations of Embodied Flow practices and methodology to support them as they expand and develop on their journey of the living art of yoga. While we cultivate the artistry of teaching, we learn to communicate and transmit the depth of information and experience we acquire. Participants will hone their grace, intuition and power as they develop skill and comfort in their role as teacher.

As graduates of the Embodied Flow 200 Hour Training, you will develop your unique strengths such as: the ability to clearly articulate and relay philosophy, lead students through an exciting and energy-filled practice, provide comfort and support, create an environment for reflection and healing, identify and assist alignment challenges, and guide meditation.

Going to yoga just for exercise is great, but temporary. The 200-Hour Teacher Training helped add the heart, mind, and soul to my practice. Incorporating pranayama, meditation, and asana has helped me with a lifestyle change. I’m calmer, more positive, and less reactionary. The instructors for this program are powerful mentors and sweet souls.
